Privacy Policy
What we collect when you call us, why we need it, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it. Written to be read, not to be impenetrable.
Who we are
Soopper Fast Recovery ("we", "us") is a vehicle recovery business operating from 68 Shirley Road, Manchester, England, M8 0ND. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about anything on this page at support@soopperfastrecovery.co.uk or on 0333 335 6327.
What we collect
When you contact us or book a recovery, we collect only what we need to do the job and invoice it:
- Your name and contact telephone number
- Your email address, where you contact us by email or submit the enquiry form
- Your location, and the destination you want the vehicle taken to
- Vehicle details — make, model, registration and the nature of the fault or damage
- Photographs of the vehicle taken before loading and after unloading, as a condition record
- Payment details processed by our card provider (we do not store card numbers ourselves)
- Insurance and claim reference numbers, where the job is part of an insurance claim
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use your information to dispatch a recovery vehicle to you, to quote and take payment, to keep a record of the vehicle’s condition in case of a later dispute, and to meet our legal and insurance obligations.
Our lawful basis is performance of a contract for recovery work you have asked us to carry out, and our legitimate interests in keeping accurate records and recovering payment. Where we hold information because we are legally required to, the basis is legal obligation.
We do not use your information for marketing, and we do not sell or share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Enquiry form and email
The enquiry form on this site opens a message in your own email application, pre-filled with the details you entered. Nothing is transmitted to us until you choose to send it, and the form does not store your details on this website.
Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary, and only with:
- Our recovery drivers, so they can find you and complete the job
- The garage, bodyshop or dealer you ask us to deliver the vehicle to
- Your insurer or claims handler, where the work forms part of a claim
- The police and Highways authorities, where an incident requires it or the law compels us
- Our payment provider, accountant and insurers, in each case only as needed
Calls and dash cameras
Telephone calls to our dispatch desk may be recorded so we have an accurate record of the location, the quote given and the instructions agreed. Our recovery vehicles carry dash cameras for driver and public safety and for insurance purposes. Both are retained for a limited period and then deleted, unless they relate to an ongoing incident, claim or dispute.
How long we keep it
Job records, invoices and condition photographs are kept for six years, which is the period we are required to retain financial records and the period within which a claim could be brought against us. Call recordings and dash camera footage are kept for a substantially shorter period unless required for a specific incident. After that, information is securely deleted.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to be told what we hold about you and to receive a copy; to have inaccurate information corrected; to ask us to delete information where we no longer have a reason to keep it; to restrict or object to how we use it; and to receive it in a portable format.
To exercise any of these, email support@soopperfastrecovery.co.uk. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies and analytics
This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and does not profile visitors. If we add analytics in future to understand which pages are useful, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page. Where the change is significant and affects work we are already doing for you, we will tell you directly.
